'XBloome', band from Vienna publishes world's first album produced exclusively with Free Software

After their debut CD "...Done!" in 2006, and the limited edition release "Remixed: Happy Rebel" in 2009, the band XBloome from Vienna is proud to announce their third album.

"X marks the spot" covers multiple genres: Whether one prefers dancing to whipping disco-beats, dream away to dark-spherical sounds or simply chill while enjoying the smooth-jazzy side of XBloome - this multifarious album is still revealing new details and facets after repeated playing.

As maybe the first album ever, "X marks the spot" was produced exclusively using Free Software (Open Source) and without a professional studio or graphic designers. With this 'proof of concept' album, XBloome have debunked several prejudices about feasability, professionality and quality of free and self-made productions.

Art needs exchange to live. That's why XBloome have made a point of sharing their experiences: On their website, they offer other artists how-tos, tutorials and templates [1].
Consistently, their label of choice to release this album on was "Edelbrand-Records", whose priority lies in the promotion of musical-cultural exchange between artists.

Like all other XBloome albums, "X marks the spot" will not only be available for sale on CD at their concerts, but as of November 1st 2010 will be obtainable as a free download on www.xbloome.com [2] - in full length and high-quality, under a Creative-Commons license.
XBloome will bring the new album on tour, starting on November 12th, playing at the "5 year Edelbrand-Records" event at the "Arena" in Vienna.

Wiener Band 'XBloome' veröffentlich weltweit erstes, ausschließlich mit Freier Software produziertes Album

Nach der Debüt-CD "...Done!" aus dem Jahr 2006 und der 2009 in limitierter Auflage erschienenen Veröffentlichung "Remixed: Happy Rebel" freuen sich XBloome aus Wien nun ihre dritte CD präsentieren zu dürfen.

"X marks the spot" deckt mehrere Genres ab: Ob man zu peitschenden Discobeats tanzen, zu düster-sphärischen Klängen träumen oder zur smooth-jazzigen Seite von XBloome chillen will - in dem facettenreichen Album entdeckt man auch nach mehrmaligem Hören noch neue Details.
Als vermutlich erstes Album weltweit wurde "X marks the spot" ausschließlich mit Freier Software (Open Source) und ohne Studio produziert. Damit haben XBloome einige in der Musikszene weitverbreitete Vorurteile über Machbarkeit, Professionalität und Qualität freier (Eigen-)Produktionen widerlegt.

Kunst lebt vom Austausch. Deshalb haben XBloome es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, ihre Erfahrungen weiterzugeben: Auf ihrer Website stellen sie anderen KünstlerInnen How-tos, Tutorials und Vorlagen zur Verfügung [1].

Le groupe viennois 'XBloome' sort le premier album au monde enregistré exclusivement grâce à des logiciels libres.

Après son premier CD « ...Done! » en 2006 et « Remixed Happy Rebel », sortien série limitée en 2009, 'XBloome', de Vienne, se réjouit de présenter maintenant son troisième CD.

"X marks the spot", recouvre plusieurs genres, que l'on aime danser sur des rythmes disco qui cinglent, rêver à des sons sombres et bulbeux, ou que l'on veuille se détendre avec le côté jazzy adouci de XBloome - on découvre après plusieurs écoutes encore de nouveaux détails dans l'album recellant de facettes.

C'est vraissemblablement en tant que premier album au monde que "X marks the spot" a été produit exclusivement grâce à des logiciels libres (Open Source) et sans Studio. Par là, XBloome a refuté quelques uns des préjugés répendus loin à la ronde dans le monde de la musique sur la faisabilité, la professionalité et la qualité des (auto-) productions libres.

L'art vit d'échanges. C'est pourquoi XBloome s'est donné pour tâche de faire part de ses expériences. Sur sa page internet, le groupe met à disposition pour d'autres artistes des modes d'emplois et des documents 'howto' [1].
